The Special Donation in December 2000 was towards the site clearance and setting up costs of the Foundation's project in East Timor which was the initiative of the Victorian branch. The latest report from the Victorian President, Peter Newton, is that fund raising for the new centre just outside Diii has gone very well and so has the operation.

It is our intention to make an additional donation to the Foundation again this year and Peter Newton's suggestion is that it be directed to the Foundation's Home in Ivanhoe which provides accommodation for cancer sufferers and their families who come to Melbourne for medical treatment from country areas and interstate. Due to demand they are in the middle of a major upgrade of the buildings and equipment at Ivanhoe Home.

Peter Newton asks "Would you please convey to all members who contribute our sincere thanks for their support and their generosity over many years".

A point of interest. In the latest issue of Ryder-Cheshire News, the Director of Raphael writes "This year we were visited by Geeta, first resident of Little White House [LWH] [1960] and Rajni who joined LWI-1 in 1962. They came with their husbands and children. They are both happily married and working as senior nurses in Government Hospitals". After searching my file I can tell you that Rajni, who is now 47 years, was the Odd Bods' first "adoptee" when, in 1967, we took up the sponsorship of a 12 year old girl whose childhood name was "Moosie". For the next 10 years we supported her through her schooling, her training as a nurse to graduation and donated further funds to set her up with her uniform and other equipment when she left Raphael to work in a mid-wifery hospital near Delhi. Stories like this make it all worth while, don't they!!

Our sincere thanks to those members who have continued to support our appeal so generously over the years. G. V. SMITH & W. SUMMERTON (TRUSTEES)
