Our sponsorship of the four young people at the Raphael Centre in India, Sumta, Harish, Ankur & Bhupinder has been renewed for another year and the financial statement and report is presented below.

The funds are held in Account No: 11190100 with Uniting Church of Australia, Funds Management, Victoria earning 6.50% interest at call with no account keeping etc. fees.
The Raphael Liaison Officer reported that long-time "adoptee" Meenu died in November, 2007 and we have agreed to sponsor 11 year old Bhupinder who, like Sunita and Harish, is a child of leper parents. So with intellectually handicapped Ankur we are continuing to sponsor 4 residents of the Raphael Centre in India. The Liaison Officer reports that our 4 "adoptees" are all well. The 2 older youngsters, Sunita and Harish were to complete their secondary schooling this year and we await advice of their future plans.
Through your generosity we have also been able to provide financial support again this year to the Foundation's Klibur Domin centre in East Timor. The funds will be used to convert a traditional house into a clinic for the nursing staff. Work will include the connection of water, provision of a hot water service and the sealing of the floor.

Once again your response has been wonderful as our appeal enters its 41st year and our sincere thanks to those members and widows who have continued to support the appeal so generously year after year.
Wal Summerton has stood down as co-trustee of the appeal fund after 40 years and our Treasurer Doug Parry has agreed to take his place. Our thanks to Wal for his help and advice over such a long period.
